New York Giants edge rusher Brian Burns tore his ACL in Sunday's win over the Tennessee Titans, head coach John Harbaugh announced Monday.
Burns will miss the rest of the season.
The Giants' standout edge rusher played Sunday despite dealing with an ankle injury that kept him out of practice all week.
Burns suffered the injury while rushing the passer on a fourth-quarter play. He went to the ground and appeared to be in serious pain as the Giants staff examined him.
Harbaugh was hopeful after the game that Burns had avoided a severe injury but said the veteran would need an MRI to confirm.
Burns is the second major player the Giants have lost to a season-ending injury in as many weeks, after Jaxson Dart underwent knee surgery last week. Dart's injury is expected to keep him out for the rest of the regular season, though he could potentially return in the postseason if New York makes it.
Burns registered a career-high 16.5 sacks last season but didn't record a sack through three games to start the 2026 campaign. The three-time Pro Bowler has been an iron man with the Giants, never missing a game since joining the team in 2024.
