Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, sources told ESPN's Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter.
Achane suffered the injury when he was tackled awkwardly in the first quarter Sunday. Head coach Jeff Hafley warned reporters postgame that the star running back's injury didn't sound "optimistic."
Achane was the focal point of a Dolphins offense that lacked star power this season. During the offseason, Hafley said it wouldn't be out of the question for the running back to get 40-45 touches per game.
The 24-year-old speedster leads the Dolphins in rushing yards (127) and yards from scrimmage (176) this season. Quarterback Malik Willis ranks second in rushing with 101 yards.
Without Achane, Miami's backfield will revolve around Ollie Gordon, who recorded 17 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown Sunday. Jaylen Wright will likely get more carries as well.
Achane signed a four-year, $64-million contract extension with the Dolphins this offseason after a breakout 2025 campaign in which he posted 1,838 yards from scrimmage.
The Dolphins are off to a 0-3 start, with an offense that sits 31st in scoring and a defense that ranks 28th in points allowed.
