Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield will be sidelined for a minimum of three weeks with a thumb injury, head coach Todd Bowles said Monday, according to Fox Sports' Greg Auman.
Mayfield didn't suffer any fractures or ligament or tendon damage when he dislocated his right thumb during Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings, sources told ESPN's Ian Rapoport.
Rookie Jalon Daniels will be the Buccaneers' starting quarterback with Mayfield sidelined. The 23-year-old University of Kansas product signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in April after going unselected in the 2026 draft.
Mayfield has thrown for 615 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions this season. He signed a three-year, $165-million extension earlier in September.
Tampa Bay is 0-3 for the first time since 2014.
The Buccaneers are seeking their first win of the season Sunday against the Green Bay Packers (1-2).
