This also occurred last year, though Rivers was not interested at the time.</p><p>There is a belief that Rivers will receive at least one interview during the upcoming coaching cycle, according to Rapoport.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Rivers, who shocked the football world by coming out of retirement to start three games for the Indianapolis Colts this season, was coaching at St. Michael Catholic, a high school in Alabama, prior to his NFL return. He previously said he plans to return to high school coaching in 2026.</p><p>The eight-time Pro Bowl quarterback lost all three of his starts during his 2025 comeback, but his play held steady despite a layoff of four-plus years. <p>Kyle Whittingham is bringing a familiar face with him to Ann Arbor.</p><p>Michigan's new head football coach said Thursday that Utah offensive coordinator Jason Beck is leaving the Utes to reunite with him as the Wolverines' play-caller.</p><p>The move hasn't been officially announced by either program, but Whittingham confirmed Beck's switch during an appearance on ESPN's <a href="https://x.com/CollegeGameDay/status/2006756205566242996">College GameDay</a>.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"That's huge for us," the ex-Utah head coach said of Beck's impending arrival.</p><p>"Jason did such a great job for us (at Utah) this past season. ... He's a guy that's moved the football and scored points everywhere he's been. It's going to be a big plus for us having him there," Whittingham continued.</p><p>Whittingham added that "a bunch" of other staff members from Utah will also join the Wolverines ahead of the 2026 season.</p><p>Beck isn't the only coordinator addition Michigan is finalizing. <p>Max Verstappen has been voted as the best driver of the season for a fifth consecutive year by Formula 1 team bosses.</p><p>The voting, which is conducted by <a href="https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article/exclusive-the-f1-team-bosses-choose-their-top-10-drivers-of-2025.30ev5TbzHuK6hnaiv9k7KI">F1</a>, asks the grid's team principals to rank their 10 best drivers of the season. "Quarterback's got to have that 'it factor' and Bryce has the 'it factor.'"</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Whittingham added: "His ceiling is very high, and the offense we're going to bring in here, I think, is going to suit him to a tee. Michigan fired head coach Sherrone Moore on Dec. 10 after an investigation found "credible evidence" that he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.</p><p>Whittingham said Sunday that he's bringing a player-first philosophy to Ann Arbor.</p><p>"My culture is going to be with the players," Whittingham said, according to <a href="https://x.com/anthonytbroome/status/2005315971129713039?s=20">Anthony Broome of TheWolverine.com</a>. <p>Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham signed a five-year deal to become Michigan's next sideline boss, the Wolverines announced Friday.</p><p>The contract will have an average annual salary of $8.2 million and 75% of the deal is guaranteed, according to <a href="https://x.com/PeteThamel/status/2004712854230909407?s=20">ESPN's Pete Thamel and Dan Wetzel</a>.</p><p>Whittingham informed Utah that he will not coach in the Las Vegas Bowl against Nebraska on Dec. 31, per <a href="https://x.com/PeteThamel/status/2004738742901490165?s=20">Thamel and Wetzel</a>. Instead, he will fly to Orlando to begin his duties as Michigan's new coach. The Wolverines are in Florida for the Citrus Bowl, which is on the same day as the Las Vegas Bowl.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Morgan Scalley, who was set to take over the Utes in 2026, will coach Utah in its bowl game. Whittingham announced earlier in December that he planned to step down after 21 seasons at Utah. <p>Imagine a Formula 1 race without the likes of McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes or Max Verstappen. How unpredictable would the winners be if the midfield was left to duke it out? We'll ultimately never be able to try it out in reality but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be interesting to find out who wins and becomes drivers' champion if the behemoths at the front of the field are removed.</p><p>In this exercise, the top seven drivers from the standings are eliminated from all race and sprint results this season. Everyone who finished below them will then be shifted up and assigned the designated points for their new finishing spot. Essentially, this takes out the top four teams except Yuki Tsunoda.
