Los Angeles Rams rookie quarterback Ty Simpson is excited to learn from his veteran teammates, particularly reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford.
"It's really, really cool to, one, be in the room with Matthew, who has done it at a high level for so long, and then see it from a wide receiver standpoint with Davante (Adams) and Puka (Nacua)," Simpson recently said, according to Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano.
"I think both of those guys (Stafford and Adams) are two guys who are one of the greatest at their positions. The fact that I can watch both of them at the same time on my team, it's a big advantage for me."
The Rams shocked the NFL world in April by taking Simpson in the first round instead of using the 13th overall selection on a blue-chip rookie who could've become an immediate contributor at a different position.
Simpson, 23, is expected to succeed Stafford, though the 38-year-old recently signed an extension and is under contract for two more seasons.
"I don't really listen to all that," Simpson said about the outside noise, questioning the Rams' unexpected draft decision.
He added, "Everybody can have an opinion, but it's my job to take care of my business. ... It's my job to be the best player I can be, the best Ty I can be, and go out there and prove them right. My job is to make sure to do whatever my team needs me to do to win, and that's what I'm going to do."
Stafford led the NFL with 4,707 yards and 46 touchdown passes in 2025. However, the Rams lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC title game, falling short of making a second Super Bowl appearance with the veteran QB in town.
