<p>Kirby Smart isn't a fan of what he's seen from his players after the Bulldogs' latest spring practice.</p><p>"We have a young, inexperienced group," Smart said Tuesday, according to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkWYWX9E6cM">Dawg Nation</a>. "We really can't practice to our standard because they're all tired."</p><p>Smart added: "I need the old players - old to me is Year 2, Year 3 - to lead the Year 1 guys because I feel like half of the roster is in their first year at Georgia. ... It's been tough. We got a long way to go, but I'm optimistic. We do have good kids and they do work hard."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Smart sounded particularly unimpressed by his freshman class.</p><p>"I'm calling out all the freshmen for not being in shape," he said. "There's not a guy out there, a freshman, that's sustaining his reps and just flourishing."</p><p>Smart - a two-time national champion with the Bulldogs - was specifically asked about the team's young group of receivers and safeties. He expects improvement from his pass-catchers. </p><p>"They gotta get in shape," Smart said about his freshman wideouts. "They're constantly tired at practice, they got their hands on their hips, exhausted. I think there's a little anxiety in that.</p><p>"They're trying, there's no lack of effort, and they're talented. But they got a long way to go in terms of learning what to do, and our job is to get them ready."</p><p>Georgia's safety position has been a strength for the school with Malaki Starks and Dan Jackson serving as key contributors in the secondary for multiple years. However, Smart's outfit is now looking for other safeties to step up with Starks and Jackson entering the 2025 NFL Draft.</p><p>"It's just like a lot of guys and there's nobody really standing out," Smart said of Georgia's competition at safety. "<a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///ncaaf/players/200904" href="https://thescore.com/ncaaf/players/200904">K.J. (Bolden)</a> is there and he continues to bulk up, get a little bit bigger. ... There's no solid foundation that Malaki and Dan provided, so it's a by-committee group."</p><p>The 49-year-old coach added that his safeties are "trying to survive practice instead of thrive."</p><p>"We wanna thrive, not survive," he said.</p><p>Smart repeatedly said Tuesday that he believes his coaching staff will help his players improve but added that it may not be an easy task.</p><p>"They have to be willing to receive coaching," Smart said. "They're offended when you coach them. I'm not talking about the freshmen, I'm talking about in general.</p><p>"I think they'll get there. If they won't, then somebody else will be in their spot."</p><p>The Bulldogs are 105-19 under Smart's watch. They've won three SEC championships together in addition to back-to-back national titles during the 2021 and '22 seasons</p>

New York and Pittsburgh are waiting for the 41-year-old to make a decision before exploring other options.</p><p>Slayton also praised Wilson on Thursday. The Giants are expected to host Wilson for a free-agent visit Friday.</p><p>"Selfishly, he's been known to have a great deep ball, so I love that, of course," <a href="https://x.com/SNYGiants/status/1900232554134790467">said</a> Slayton, who's averaged 15 yards per reception since entering the NFL.</p><p>He added: "He's played well in this league for a long time, played well last year for the Steelers. They combined for just 15 touchdown passes against 13 interceptions. DeVito is currently the only signal-caller under contract for New York.</p><p>Rodgers passed for 28 TDs to 11 INTs in 2024 with a 63% completion rate. The New York Jets - who went 5-12 last year - released the four-time MVP on Wednesday after two seasons.</p><p>Wilson helped the Steelers reach the playoffs this past season by throwing for 16 touchdowns against five picks in 11 starts. It was his first season in Pittsburgh following a disappointing two-year stint with the Denver Broncos.</p>

<p>The New York Jets released linebacker <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/44878" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/44878">C.J. Mosley</a>, the team announced Wednesday.</p><p>"It is hard to move on from a player like C.J. Mosley who has given everything of himself to an organization," new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn <a href="https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/jets-release-cj-mosley-03-12-2025">said</a> in a statement. "From everything we learned about C.J. - he is a passionate leader, who put the New York Jets first and got the most out of his teammates. We wish him and his family the best as he moves forward with his career."</p><p>Mosley joined the Jets in 2019 and played five seasons with the club. He skipped the 2020 campaign after opting out due to the COVID-19 pandemic.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The 32-year-old battled multiple injuries and was limited to only four appearances in 2024. He averaged 159 tackles (four for loss), five pass breakups, one interception, and one sack per season between 2021-23.</p><p>Mosley began his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens, who selected him in the first round in the 2014 draft. He's earned five Pro Bowl berths and five second-team All-Pro nods, with the most recent selection coming in 2022.</p><p>The Jets will move on with <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/86081" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/86081">Quincy Williams</a> and <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/161984" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/161984">Jamien Sherwood</a> headlining their linebacker depth chart. Sherwood re-signed with the team Sunday on a three-year, $45-million contract.</p>
