Chicago Cubs star third baseman Alex Bregman departed Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds after being struck in the head by a foul ball while in the on-deck circle.
Bregman held his head and descended into the tunnel with training staff immediately after getting hit by the ball during Michael Busch's plate appearance.

Matt Shaw wound up pinch hitting for Bregman and remained in the game defensively at second base. Pedro Ramírez shifted from the keystone to third.
Bregman has 26 homers with 89 RBIs and an .804 OPS over 152 games this season. He joined the Cubs on a five-year, $175-million deal last offseason.
The Cubs are set to qualify for the playoffs as a wild-card team. The postseason starts Sept. 29, which makes Bregman's status murky if he's dealing with a week-to-week injury.
