The Kansas City Royals have re-signed veteran right-hander Zack Greinke, owner John Sherman announced Tuesday, according to Vahe Gregorian of the Kansas City Star.

Greinke signed a one-year deal, sources told Bob Fescoe of 610 Sports Radio. It's expected to pay him between $8 million and $10 million, according to Mark Feinsand of

The 39-year-old will be entering his 20th season in MLB. He returned to the Royals last year after beginning his career with a seven-year stint in K.C.

Last winter, the former Cy Young winner signed a one-year, $13-million pact to rejoin the Royals. Despite diminished velocity and strikeout prowess, the six-time All-Star still posted a 3.68 ERA (111 ERA+) and 4.03 FIP.

The likely Hall of Famer has claimed numerous accolades in his storied career. He has six Gold Gloves alongside two Silver Slugger awards, and he's won the ERA title twice (once in the American League with the Royals and the other in the NL with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2015).
