Chicago Bears safety Coby Bryant will be sidelined four-to-six months after undergoing knee surgery, head coach Ben Johnson announced Tuesday, according to The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs.
The Bears are hoping Bryant can return toward the end of the season, Briggs adds.
Bryant sustained a hyperextended knee, a bone bruise, and a small fracture during practice last week.
Chicago had big plans for Bryant this campaign, signing him to a three-year, $40-million contract this offseason. The 27-year-old defensive back entered free agency after recording four interceptions last year and playing an instrumental part in the Seattle Seahawks' Super Bowl LX run. He posted three picks in 2024.
The Bears listed Xavier Woods as Bryant's backup at safety in their first depth chart.
