Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard denied that wide receiver Alec Pierce received a second platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in his surgically repaired left ankle, according to Kevin Bowen of 1075 The Fan.
Ballard said Tuesday that there's no timeline for Pierce's return to practice but the GM feels "very positive where he's heading." Ballard added that the team is still planning for the wideout to play in Week 1.
It was reported Monday that Pierce had a second PRP shot on his surgically repaired left ankle. The injection is intended to help heal damaged joints, ligaments, and tendons.
The 26-year-old has yet to practice this offseason.
The Colts signed Pierce to a four-year, $114-million contract in March after he enjoyed a breakout season with 47 catches, 1,003 receiving yards, and six touchdowns in 14 games. He led the NFL in yards per reception for the second consecutive campaign.
Indianapolis traded wide receiver Michael Pittman to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, making Pierce an even more important part of the offense. Tight end Tyler Warren and slot receiver Josh Downs would project as the Colts' top two pass-catchers to begin the 2026 campaign if Pierce is still sidelined.
