Schauffele and Cantlay never trailed and were 3-up through 11 holes before MacIntyre and Hovland stormed back and won three of the next four holes to tie it. But a birdie on No. 17 saved Schauffele and Cantlay from a catastrophic collapse. Schauffele and Cantlay are now 10-3 together in Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups.</p>

The injury didn't affect his ability to generate scoring chances - he finished third in the league in individual expected goals - but it clearly took a toll on his finishing ability, as he shot a career-low 12.2%. New head coach Mike Sullivan said he envisions Zibanejad beginning the season on the wing. His only challenger would be 34-year-old Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Playing a full season with a steady, reliable partner in 2025 trade deadline pickup Brandon Carlo should help his five-on-five output, too. Despite Skinner's struggles last season, the Oilers didn't add any further crease competition, and backup Calvin Pickard isn't the answer. Skinner's also just two years removed from a .913 mark. That makes Woll a great value pick, considering he and Stolarz are projected to share the net in a nearly 50-50 split. Woll is also four years younger, and it wouldn't be a total shocker if he's Toronto's more effective goalie. Also, his recent <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3352282" href="https://thescore.com/news/3352282">leave of absence</a> from the Maple Leafs shouldn't be viewed as a concern this late in your fantasy draft.</p>

The new deal kicks in next season.</p><p>The 24-year-old notched eight goals and 16 assists in 82 games last season before adding 10 points in 22 playoff appearances. Marner, a true playmaker, also won't have the benefit of playing alongside a world-class finisher like Auston Matthews anymore. Jack Eichel is a great talent, too, but he's also more of a pass-first player, and it remains to be seen if he and Marner will jell.</p><p>Marner isn't a high-volume shooter and doesn't hit much either; he needs goals and assists to be valuable in fantasy hockey. However, some of the magic from his record-breaking campaign could wear off in 2025-26. Big things are expected at this lofty ADP, and penciling him in as a fourth-round pick is too big a leap of faith.</p><p>The 2024 No. 1 pick will be punished in leagues that include plus/minus. He's been a legitimate workhorse the last few years but has posted sub-.910 save percentages in back-to-back seasons.</p><p>It also remains to be seen if the Stars will take a step back defensively after making a coaching change. He's a talented goalie who was great for the Avalanche in 2024-25 after being acquired from the Sharks midseason. His situation in Colorado is as good as it gets. The offense will provide plenty of goal support, and the blue line only got stronger with the addition of Brent Burns.</p><p>However, this is mighty early to select a goalie who was mostly off the fantasy radar entering last season and comes with a lengthy injury history. He's already dealing with an ailment to begin camp, and it's unclear if he'll be ready for the season opener.</p><p>If you're set on drafting a goalie this early, somebody with a more established track record like Igor Shesterkin (31.6 ADP) is a less risky pick.</p>

<p>The 20th season of <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/575" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/575">Anze Kopitar</a>'s storied career will be his last in the NHL.</p><p>The Los Angeles Kings captain will retire at the end of the 2025-26 campaign, he announced Thursday.</p><p>Kopitar, 38, helped the Kings capture Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014. He ranks first in franchise history in games played (1,454) and second in points (1,278). He sits 29 points behind Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne on the Kings' all-time list.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>He enters his final season ranking 40th on the NHL's all-time list in points and 29th in assists.</p><p>Kopitar didn't win the Conn Smythe either time L.A. won the Cup, but he led the playoffs in points (or tied for the lead) both years, notching 20 in as many games in 2012 and 26 in as many games in 2014. Overall, he's registered 89 points in 103 postseason appearances.</p><p>Dustin Brown wore the captain's "C" during both Stanley Cups, but Kopitar's leadership presence was strongly felt. Kopitar eventually earned the captaincy ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.</p><p>Kopitar has blended his imposing 6-foot-3, 225-pound frame with incredible grace on and off the ice. He's won two Selke Trophies, three Lady Byng Trophies, and a Mark Messier Leadership Award while establishing himself as one of the best two-way forwards of his generation. Kopitar was a finalist for the Hart Trophy in 2017-18, when he set career highs of 35 goals and 92 points. He's finished top 10 in Selke voting 12 times.</p><p>The Kings drafted Kopitar 11th overall in 2005. Only <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/1002" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/1002">Sidney Crosby</a>, <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/1280" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/1280">Alex Ovechkin</a>, <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/1026" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/1026">Evgeni Malkin</a>, and <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/267" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/267">Patrick Kane</a> have registered more points in the salary-cap era.</p><p>Kopitar, one of only three NHLers ever to hail from Slovenia, has also been highly durable in his career, never missing more than 12 games in a season.</p>

<p>The Minnesota Wild currently have no interest in listening to trade calls for <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/7294" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/7294">Kirill Kaprizov</a>, reports <a href="https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/2025/09/16/insider-trading-waiting-game-continues-on-mcdavid/">TSN's Pierre LeBrun</a>.</p><p>Minnesota's only focus is signing Kaprizov to an extension, and the team still believes he wants to stay, LeBrun added.</p><p>Kaprizov, who can become an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season, <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3342420" href="https://thescore.com/news/3342420">reportedly</a> rejected an eight-year extension with what would be an NHL-record $16-million average annual value. General manager Bill Guerin <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3342789" href="https://thescore.com/news/3342789">refuted</a> the report, saying "I don't know where this stuff comes from."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The $128-million extension offer remains on the table for Kaprizov, LeBrun said.</p><p>Kaprizov recorded 25 goals and 31 assists in 41 games last season. He was a Hart Trophy contender before a lower-body injury derailed his campaign.</p><p>The 28-year-old winger ranks 15th in points and 10th in points per game among all NHL skaters since entering the league in 2020-21. He's arguably the most talented player in Wild history, ranking first in the club's record book in goals per game and assists per game.</p><p>The Wild project to have $39 million in cap space next offseason, giving them ample room to offer Kaprizov a lucrative deal.</p>

Pat and I didn't have a conversation prior to him talking."</p><p>The 38-year-old has shown no signs of slowing down despite the Penguins' struggles. Crosby has tallied at least 90 points in each of the past three seasons during Pittsburgh's playoff skid.</p><p>He's set to enter the first season of a two-year extension signed prior to the start of the 2024-25 campaign. The contract includes a full no-movement clause.</p><p>A three-time Stanley Cup champion and two-time Hart Trophy winner during his 20 seasons in Pittsburgh, Crosby ranks second in franchise history in points with 1,687, just 36 back of Mario Lemieux.</p>

I've honestly been thinking about this way too much and it's still so far away."</p><p>Doughty, who turns 36 in December, represented Canada at February's 4 Nations Face-Off as an injury replacement for <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/1098" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/1098">Alex Pietrangelo</a>. He also won the 2016 World Cup of Hockey with Canada, bolstering his sparkling international resume.</p><p>A two-time Stanley Cup champion and 2016 Norris Trophy winner, Doughty registered 17 points in 30 games with the Kings last season, leading the team in average time on ice (24:08) for the 17th consecutive campaign. </p><p>Doughty admitted that making Team Canada has been his primary focus this offseason, knowing it could potentially be the last time he dons the red and white at a major international tournament.</p><p>"This summer has been huge for me," Doughty said. "I've been focusing on the Olympics this summer maybe more than I've been focusing on playing for the L.A. Kings. I want to win the Cup too, but this has been my focus, how hard I have to work this summer to get myself back and to have a great start to the season.</p><p>"This (Olympics) has come 16 years after the first one and 12 since my second one, and I didn't know if I'd ever have another opportunity. I'm going to do everything to get that opportunity again."</p>
