The Los Angeles Chargers agreed to terms with free-agent tight end David Njoku, the team announced Monday.
Njoku will sign a one-year contract worth up to $8 million, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Njoku reportedly visited the Chargers in early May and was among the top remaining free agents. He also visited the Baltimore Ravens in April.
The 29-year-old had spent his entire nine-year career with the Cleveland Browns after being selected in the first round of the 2017 draft. He played out a four-year, $56.75-million contract he signed with Cleveland in May 2022.
Njoku was limited to 12 games last year due to a knee injury, hauling in 33 receptions for 293 yards and four touchdowns. He also played in just 11 games the year prior due to multiple ailments.
The Miami product's best season came in 2023, when he earned his only Pro Bowl nomination while totaling 83 catches on 123 targets for 882 yards and six scores. Njoku's 34 touchdowns since entering the league rank seventh among all active tight ends, according to TruMedia.
Njoku will join a Chargers tight ends room that has Oronde Gadsden and Charlie Kolar. Gadsden, whom Los Angeles selected in the fifth round of the 2025 draft, finished 11th among all tight ends in receiving yards as a rookie last season.
