Texas Tech made a splash Sunday by landing a commitment from former Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby, he told ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Sorsby's decision comes after visits with Texas Tech on Friday and LSU on Saturday.

He was one of the top players available in the transfer portal after accounting for 36 touchdowns this past season. Sorsby passed for 2,800 yards in 2025 while adding 580 yards on the ground en route to earning a second-team All-Big 12 berth.

Sorsby reached out to former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes and top booster Cody Campbell to deliver the news Sunday.

"He just called me and Patrick Mahomes to tell us he's coming to win a natty," Campbell told On3's Pete Nakos.

Sorsby will replace senior quarterback Behren Morton in 2026, with the big-spending Red Raiders expecting another playoff run. They lost to Oregon in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal this campaign.
