The Pittsburgh Pirates designated right-hander Camilo Doval for assignment, the team announced Tuesday.
Doval lost his spot on the active roster to create room for fellow reliever Kirby Yates, who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list.
Pittsburgh acquired Doval from the New York Yankees for two prospects at the trade deadline.
The former San Francisco Giants closer appeared in 20 games for the Pirates, authoring a 3.79 ERA and 10.9 K/9. The 29-year-old also recorded a bloated 1.74 WHIP, allowing 14 walks in 19 innings.
Doval had one year remaining on his contract before he hit free agency in 2028. He was arbitration-eligible in 2027 after earning $6.1 million this season.
