Chicago Cubs star third baseman Alex Bregman departed Sunday's 9-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds after being struck in the face by a foul ball while in the on-deck circle.
Bregman held his head and descended into the tunnel with training staff immediately after getting hit by the ball during Michael Busch's plate appearance.

Bregman went to a local hospital for more tests, but he's expected to travel with the club back to Chicago, manager Craig Counsell said postgame, according to Patrick Mooney of The Athletic.
"It's the left cheekbone, essentially, under the eye," Counsell added. "I don't know anything more than that right now. He had a cut under his eye. He was bleeding from his nose a little bit. He's pretty swollen."

The 32-year-old has 26 homers with 89 RBIs and an .804 OPS over 152 games this season. He joined the Cubs on a five-year, $175-million deal last offseason.
The Cubs are set to qualify for the playoffs as a wild-card team. The postseason starts Sept. 29, which makes Bregman's status murky if he's dealing with a week-to-week injury.
