The Milwaukee Brewers could be the next trade partner for the New York Mets before Monday's deadline.
Milwaukee is among the teams showing strong interest in Mets right-hander Luke Weaver, sources told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon. Sammon adds that the Pittsburgh Pirates are another potential suitor.
The Mets began tearing apart their club Thursday by dealing left-handed reliever A.J. Minter to the Minnesota Twins. More deals are expected to come, as the club enters Friday with a 47-63 record.
Weaver has been terrific for the Mets during the first season of his two-year, $22-million deal. The 32-year-old owns a 1.88 ERA and 2.87 FIP in 41 appearances. He's allowed one earned run since the beginning of May and sits in the 88th percentile or better in pitching run value, off-speed run value, expected batting average, and expected ERA.
