San Diego Padres infielder José Iglesias received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for a heated argument with umpires following a Game 3 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Oct. 2 in the NL wild-card round.

Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts was also fined for his role in the altercation.

Iglesias and Bogaerts engaged in a shouting match with umpires as the crew walked through the Padres dugout while exiting the field following the season-ending 3-1 defeat at Wrigley Field.

Iglesias will be a free agent in the offseason, which means he will serve his punishment to start the 2026 season if he signs a new contract.
