Giants' Snell still confused by lack of offseason interest: 'Just no offers'

San Francisco Giants lefty Blake Snell still can't believe how his free agency played out this past offseason.

The southpaw went unsigned well into spring training despite having just taken home his second career Cy Young Award.

"When spring training started, I was kind of shocked, like how has a team not come after me to get me on a team?" he told "Foul Territory" on Monday.

The Giants ultimately signed Snell to a two-year, $62-million deal in March.

While the lucrative $31-million average salary is on par with what other aces around the league are signed to, most people - including Snell - expected him to sign a contract with significantly more term.

"The offers, I mean that was crazy, just no offers. Nothing good, nothing even worth talking about," Snell added.

A long-term deal could come this offseason, however, as Snell's current contract includes a player option for 2025.

The 31-year-old has certainly put teams on notice amid a dominant five-start stretch that culminated in a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. He owns a 1.19 ERA and 0.69 WHIP with 48 strikeouts since July 9.

Snell will look to continue his excellent run against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.
