The Ottawa Senators named defenseman Thomas Chabot the 11th captain in franchise history on Tuesday.
Brady Tkachuk wore the "C" for the last five seasons until Ottawa traded him to the Florida Panthers in the offseason.

"Thomas exemplifies everything we want in an Ottawa Senator," president of hockey operations and general manager Steve Staios said. "He's committed to the city and to the organization. He puts the team first."
Chabot, 29, has spent his entire 10-year NHL career with the Senators. He ranks 11th in franchise history in games played (569) and third in points among defensemen (335), trailing only Erik Karlsson and Wade Redden.
"We've always said it. Ottawa feels like home. It really does," Chabot said. "We bought our first house here. We started our family here. Becoming captain here is a huge honor."
Claude Giroux, Jake Sanderson, and Tim Stutzle will serve as alternate captains.
