Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is expected to miss two weeks with a lower-body injury, head coach Mike Babcock announced Tuesday, per Sportsnet's Mark Spector.
Nugent-Hopkins was expected to center Edmonton's second line, allowing Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl to team up on the first line. With third-line center Jason Dickinson also out, McDavid and Draisaitl are expected to center their own lines for Tuesday's season opener against the Vancouver Canucks.
Babcock added that Vasily Podkolzin will take Nugent-Hopkins' spot on the top power-play unit.
Nugent-Hopkins tallied 20 goals and 56 points in 72 games last season.
