The Vancouver Canucks denied the New York Rangers' trade proposal of Mika Zibanejad in exchange for J.T. Miller earlier in the 2024-25 campaign, The Athletic's Josh Yohe reports.

It was reported that the Rangers inquired about Miller in November, but the offer was unknown.

The Canucks have reportedly been exploring the trade market for Miller and Elias Pettersson amid an apparent feud between the star centers. However, both players have denied the reported rift.

Rangers general manager Chris Drury has been intent on shaking up his roster since November. He's already traded away captain Jacob Trouba and forward Kaapo Kakko to the Anaheim Ducks and Seattle Kraken, respectively.

The Rangers drafted Miller 15th overall in 2011, and he spent parts of five seasons in New York before being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was traded again to the Canucks in 2019 and is in the second season of a seven-year deal that carries an $8-million cap hit and a full no-movement clause.

The 31-year-old has tallied 29 points in 29 contests in 2024-25 after averaging 95 points a season across the last three campaigns.

Zibanejad's play has declined in recent years. After racking up 91 points in 2022-23, he registered 72 a year ago, and he's produced 24 points in 39 appearances this season. The 31-year-old is signed through 2029-30 with an $8.5-million cap hit and a full no-movement clause.
