Tennessee Titans star Jeffery Simmons believes the game plan to stop Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is pretty straightforward.
"We just need to make Jalen Hurts be a QB," Simmons told reporters Wednesday, including NJ.com's Cayden Steele, ahead of the Titans' Week 2 matchup against the Eagles. "Stop his runs, make sure Hurts doesn't get out of the pocket and make plays."
Hurts ran for 46 yards on seven carries during Philadelphia's season-opening win over the Washington Commanders last weekend.
The three-time Pro Bowler ran for 421 yards last season and ranks fifth in rushing touchdowns (63) among active players.
But Hurts could have his work cut out for him Sunday, with starting guard Landon Dickerson on injured reserve with a knee injury.
Simmons, meanwhile, has established himself as one of the NFL's top interior pass-rushers, recording a career-high 11 sacks last season and earning his first All-Pro first-team selection.
However, the defensive tackle didn't have much success in his lone meeting against Philadelphia in December 2022, managing just one quarterback hit.
