Minnesota Vikings passer J.J. McCarthy said he's not interested in being traded despite losing the team's quarterback competition to Kyler Murray.
"This is the place I want to be," McCarthy said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. "I love every single person in this building. I love the state. I love the fan base. And I'm going to continue to just do whatever I can for this team and this organization."
Head coach Kevin O'Connell announced Tuesday that McCarthy will enter the season as the No. 2 quarterback behind Murray, who joined the team in free agency. The Vikings also roster Carson Wentz and Max Brosmer.
"Obviously, every competitor wants to play," McCarthy added. "But moving forward, it's just about continuing to work hard and just staying ready for when my number's called."
McCarthy posted a 6-4 record as the Vikings' starter last season after missing his entire rookie campaign in 2024 due to a torn meniscus. McCarthy also missed time in 2025 due to a concussion and hand injury.
The Vikings signed Murray to a one-year contract in the offseason after he was released by the Arizona Cardinals.
