Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald plans to make his season debut against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, he told reporters Friday.
"That is the plan," he said after practice, according to The Associated Press' Dan Greenspan.
Donald sat out the Rams' season opener in Australia while ramping up physically after ending his two-year retirement. Los Angeles fell flat in that game, losing 27-7 to the San Francisco 49ers.
"Feel a lot better now that I got more practices under my belt instead of one, so kind of getting in a groove of things, understanding everything a lot better," Donald said. "I've been playing a lot more free, a lot more loose, and looking more like myself to me."
The Rams lured Donald out of retirement after reaching the NFC title game last season and bolstering their defense over the offseason with a slew of marquee additions.
One of those big-ticket newcomers, edge rusher Myles Garrett, went on injured reserve after Week 1 and won't be on the field against the Giants. Garrett and Donald combined to win five of the last nine Defensive Player of the Year awards.
The Rams will take on a Giants team that is coming off a season-opening victory over the Dallas Cowboys. New York is 1-0 for the first time since 2022.
