Aaron Donald hasn't played in the NFL since 2023 but you'd never know it according to Sean McVay.
The Los Angeles Rams coach was thoroughly impressed this week during the the 10-time Pro Bowler's workout, claiming he "looked outstanding," according to ESPN's Sarah Barshop.
"Things are going in the right direction," McVay said. "He's feeling good, but we're not to where we are able to say whether or not he is or isn't ready to do it. But he's doing great and he looked outstanding as I think all of us would expect."
Donald, one of the most dominant defensive tackles ever, has been flirting with the idea of coming out of retirement since the Rams acquired edge rusher Myles Garrett in a blockbuster trade this offseason.
Donald's decision could occur in the coming days, a source told PFT's Mike Florio.
McVay said the door is open for the 35-year-old to return, but it's ultimately up to Donald.
"He has earned the right to be able to say how he feels," McVay explained. "I mean, I obviously saw the workout. I've been seeing the things that he's been doing. He and I probably talk every day. So it's one of those deals that if he wants to do it, we'd be excited about the possibility.
A three-time Defensive Player of the Year, Donald recorded 111 sacks across 10 seasons.
