Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones is feeling good about his club's roster, saying that he'd be willing to trade future assets to land an impact player.
"Candidly, I'd be very interested. I'd give up future to add (substance) to where we are today as to a player," Jones told reporters Tuesday.
He added: "I talked yesterday about a situation with another team and another owner."
Although Jones hasn't watched the Cowboys' current group work together, he said he remains confident they'll be title contenders this season.
"Looking ahead, I think that we have a chance to be worthy of spending some future (picks) if we saw an opportunity," Jones said.
Unlike recent offseasons, the Cowboys reported to training camp Tuesday without any off-field drama. Last year, the team endured a bitter contract negotiation with pass-rusher Micah Parsons, ultimately trading the star defender to the Green Bay Packers before the regular season.
Negotiations also went down to the wire with CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott ahead of the 2024 campaign, but Dallas managed to finalize new agreements with both stars.
George Pickens reported to camp Tuesday after receiving the franchise tag in February. The standout receiver will earn $27.2 million in 2026 after the sides couldn't agree on a long-term deal. He'll have an opportunity to become a free agent in 2027.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer enters his second year leading Dallas after the club missed the postseason for the second consecutive season, finishing 7-9-1 in 2025.
The Cowboys begin their preseason slate on Aug. 15 against the Seattle Seahawks.
