<p>Quarterback <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/50470" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/50470">Dak Prescott</a> isn't putting much focus into cementing his legacy with the Dallas Cowboys as he prepares for his 10th season with the franchise.</p><p>"The legacy and the things, and whatever comes after I finish playing, will take care of itself. His 2024 campaign concluded with him throwing for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions with a 64.7% completion rate in eight games.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Prescott and the Cowboys are looking to rebound from a 7-10 campaign that included missing the playoffs and parting ways with head coach Mike McCarthy after the season. The 31-year-old signal-caller has led Dallas to five playoff appearances during his tenure, but he hasn’t advanced past the divisional round.</p><p>Prescott said he believes the club is headed in the right direction after making some key upgrades. Brian Schottenheimer was promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach in the offseason. Talented wideout <a data-in-app-uri="" href="">George Pickens</a> was acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers in May. "I can't give up on that dream, on that goal."</p><p>Mack admitted the mental grind of playing and practicing caused him to briefly mull retirement before signing a one-year contract worth $18 million in March.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>He also revealed he had interest playing elsewhere this season. "I would be lying if I said there wasn't," he said, though he didn't go into any further details.</p><p>However, the three-time first-team All-Pro says the familiarity with his teammates and the club's direction ultimately made it an easy decision to return to L.A for a fourth season.</p><p>"Why not here?" He has recorded 39 tackles for loss, 31 sacks, and 49 quarterback hits over that span.</p><p>He's getting used to life without running mate <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/71822" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/71822">Joey Bosa</a>, who signed with the Buffalo Bills in free agency. It's knowing when is the time to give up on a play," Tagovailoa said Tuesday, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45486610/dolphins-tua-tagovailoa-aims-shift-my-mindset-stay-safe">ESPN's Marcel-Louis Jacques</a>. "And I would say the longevity for me to be on the field with my guys is more important than whatever that one play is."</p><p>The star passer also stressed the importance of offseason practice in helping him determine when to extend plays and when to play for another down.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"I think that's why you have practice, and it starts in practice," Tagovailoa said.</p><p>He added: "Just throw it away or run and then just stop to signify it to slide, if you will, but I think it's the transition and focus of bringing that game-like feel into practice."</p><p>Tagovailoa missed six games last season and suffered the third concussion of his career. He's missed 11 contests since 2022 due to injuries.</p><p>However, the 27-year-old signal-caller led the league with 4,624 passing yards in 2023, and he threw for 29 touchdowns to earn his first career Pro Bowl nod. He's also entering the first year of a four-year, $212.4-million extension.</p><p>With all of Tua's talent and his new deal, head coach Mike McDaniel says he's reinforced the message that Tagovailoa needs to remain healthy.</p><p>"I, like everyone else, really want him to be healthy," McDaniel said. "You have a franchise quarterback, you want him to play instead of standing on the sideline."</p><p>The Dolphins signed <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/161648" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/161648">Zach Wilson</a> and drafted <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/210074" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/210074">Quinn Ewers</a> to bolster their depth behind Tagovailoa ahead of the 2025 season.</p><p>Miami went 2-4 without Tagovailoa last season and 6-5 with him. <p>The Minnesota Vikings announced Friday that the team has agreed to a multi-year extension with general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.</p><p>Adofo-Mensah was set to enter the final year of a four-year contract he signed after being hired in January 2022. Minnesota also signed head coach Kevin O'Connell to an extension in January. </p><p>"This organization means so much to me, and I've always believed in what we're building here. From the ownership to the incredible staff, there's a true commitment to creating a winning culture with the goal of competing year in and year out," Adofo-Mensah said.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"Kwesi's leadership, vision and collaboration with our coaching staff has positioned the Minnesota Vikings for sustained success," Vikings owner and president Mark Wilf said in a statement. </p><p>Wilf added: "We are extremely excited to continue this journey with Kwesi in this role and confident in the direction he and Kevin are leading our organization."</p><p>The Vikings have made two playoff appearances and own a 34-17 record over the past three seasons with Adofo-Mensah in the front office and O'Connell on the sideline. <p>Late Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach will soon be eligible for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.</p><p>The National Football Foundation <a href="https://x.com/NFFNetwork/status/1928106528437064014">announced</a> Thursday that coaches with a career winning percentage of .595 or higher will now be considered for enshrinement, beginning with the Class of 2027. Leach's .596 win percentage fell short of the Hall of Fame's previous minimum of .600.</p><p>All other requirements, including a service of 10 years minimum as a head coach, remain unchanged, per the NFF.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Leach posted a 158-107 record over 21 seasons at Texas Tech (2000-09), Washington State (2012-19), and Mississippi State (2020-22).</p><p>Leach, 61, unexpectedly died on Dec. 22, 2022. Belovedly referred to as "The Pirate," he's credited with constructing one of the most prolific versions of the Air Raid offense at the collegiate level.</p><p>Les Miles and Jackie Sherrill are other former coaches that'll become eligible for the College Football Hall of Fame following the new eligibility rules.</p>

Hill's 81 catches for 959 yards and six scores were both his lowest marks since his 2019 season with the Kansas City Chiefs. He failed to make the Pro Bowl for the first time in his nine-year career.</p><p>Hill was noticeably upset at the end of last season. He declared he was "out" following Miami's loss to the New York Jets in the regular-season finale but apologized and backtracked in February. The veteran is now "looking to move forward."</p><p>He was honest when asked whether he should remain a team captain after last season's controversy.</p><p>"I don't feel I deserve it," Hill said, per the <a href="https://x.com/OmarKelly/status/1927785097291247795">Miami Herald's Omar Kelly</a>. "If I didn't get it I wouldn't sweat it because I put myself in that position."</p><p>Hill insisted that, starting with OTAs and continuing into training camp, he needs to demonstrate to teammates, coaches, and himself that he's capable of more.</p><p>"I've got to show up different," he said. "The mindset has got to be different."</p><p>Hill shared he's slimmed down from 197 to 183 pounds in an effort to improve his endurance next season, according to <a href="https://x.com/schadjoe/status/1927780627652153571">Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post</a>. He's still working his way back into form after undergoing a second offseason wrist surgery earlier this month.</p>

<p>Head coach Steve Sarkisian is refuting a <a href="https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/college/longhorns/article/texas-football-salary-cost-20299985.php">report</a> that states Texas' 2025 roster budget is between $35 million and $40 million.</p><p>The reported one-time expense exceeds the $20.5-million revenue-sharing allotment that's expected to be in place once the House vs. NCAA antitrust settlement is resolved. The looming resolution to the court case would limit the amount of funds that schools can funnel to their roster. The school's collective, Texas One Fund, is reportedly paying out through NIL contributions but is expected to be phased out in favor of the revenue sharing and other NIL corporations.</p><p>"What's frustrating on that is that it was a little bit of irresponsible reporting," Sarkisian said in an interview on SiriusXM's SEC Radio, according to <a href="https://www.kxan.com/sports-general/horns-report/texas-head-coach-steve-sarkisian-calls-40m-roster-report-irresponsible/">KXAN's Billy Gates</a>. "One anonymous source said that's what our roster was. I wish we had $40 million on our roster, we'd probably be a little bit better team than we are."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>What Sarkisian said upset him the most about the report is that he wasn't questioned prior to the story being published.</p><p>While Sarkisian insists the totals being floated around aren't accurate, he admitted that investing money into roster-building has become common in college football.</p><p>"The idea to think that other schools aren't spending money to get players ... it's the state of college football. It is what it is," he said.</p><p>Sarkisian has guided Texas to success over the past few years. The Longhorns won the Big 12 title in their final season in the conference in 2023 and appeared in the SEC championship game last year. The Buccaneers drafted Evans seventh overall in 2014.</p><p>The 31-year-old didn't discuss his future but is eager to see what's in store for the Bucs this fall and beyond with Mayfield under center.</p><p>"Tampa is in great hands with Baker," Evans said. "I'm sure he'll play much longer than I will."</p>

Former head coach Matt Eberflus was also fired following a Thanksgiving Day loss to the Lions, and the book reveals that Williams spent time during his rookie season watching film without coaches.</p><p>The USC product passed for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions with a 62.5% completion rate in 2024. The 23-year-old was also hauled down for a league-leading 68 sacks last season.</p><p>But Johnson isn't stressed about what happened before he arrived in Chicago. The first-year head coach is instead locked in on helping his quarterback prepare for his sophomore campaign.</p><p>"He's gonna go out there and play as well as he possibly can, not just for himself or for me, but for the whole team and the city," Johnson said.</p>
