The Baltimore Ravens have waived former Heisman finalist and undrafted rookie quarterback Diego Pavia prior to training camp, the team announced Thursday.
The move was done to make room for center Ethan Pocic on the 90-man roster.
The former Vanderbilt star signed a three-year contract with Baltimore ahead of its rookie minicamp this spring. Pavia was the first Heisman finalist to go undrafted since 2014.
Pavia had an electric campaign during his final year at Vanderbilt, completing 70.6% of his passes for 3,539 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also rushed for 862 yards and added 10 scores with his legs.
Lamar Jackson is the Ravens' starting quarterback, and Tyler Huntley again projects to be his backup. Other passers on the roster are Skylar Thompson and undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano.
