Longtime Browns guard Joel Bitonio announced his retirement on Tuesday after a 12-year career in the NFL, all with Cleveland.

"Truthfully, as time passed and my career kept going, there was never a point where I could envision myself in a different uniform," Bitonio said in a statement released by the Browns.

"Wearing that orange helmet and being part of this franchise - from getting drafted to signing three contracts - I felt a loyalty to the Browns, and it gave me a sense of pride to represent a fan base who is consistently loyal to us. I started the job here, and once I got to a certain point, I knew I wanted to finish the job in Cleveland."

Drafted in the second round in 2014, Bitonio started 178 games and allowed just 26 sacks in 3,343 pass-blocking snaps, according to PFF.

The Nevada product earned two first-team All-Pro nominations, three second-team, and seven Pro Bowl nods throughout his career. Bitonio's considered one of the best guards of the last decade, and he notably played 6,481 consecutive offensive snaps from the start of the 2017 season through the 2023 campaign.

Bitonio also played every offensive snap for the Browns in 2025 during a 5-12 season. His 178 games played are also the most in franchise history in the post-1999 era.
