New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers underwent a second knee surgery to remove scar tissue that was causing stiffness, sources told The Athletic's Dan Duggan.

The procedure, described as a cleanup, took place "multiple weeks ago," according to Duggan.

Nabers' latest surgery reportedly isn't expected to affect his recovery timeline, and the Giants remain hopeful that their leading pass-catcher will be available to face the Dallas Cowboys in their season opener Sept. 13.

In April, head coach John Harbaugh said the club hoped to have Nabers back on the field at some point during training camp, according to Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams.

Nabers last played Sept. 28, 2025, when he suffered a torn ACL. The injury ended a promising sophomore season for the 2024 first-round pick, who put on a show with 109 receptions, 1,204 yards, and seven touchdowns as a rookie.

Nabers' involvement is key for a Giants team that enters the 2026 campaign with high expectations after an aggressive offseason. New York, looking to upgrade its supporting cast around quarterback Jaxson Dart, signed wide receiver Darnell Mooney and tight end Isaiah Likely. The team also drafted pass-rusher Arvell Reese as well as offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa in the first round and used a Round 3 selection on wideout Malachi Fields.
