Cowboys' Williams signs 3-year, $24M contract
The Dallas Cowboys agreed to a three-year, $24-million contract with running back Javonte Williams, the team announced Saturday.
Williams will receive $16 million guaranteed as part of his deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 25-year-old was set to become a free agent ahead of the new league year.
The North Carolina product joined the Cowboys on a one-year pact in March 2025 following four seasons with the Denver Broncos.
After averaging 3.7 yards per carry in 2024, Williams turned things around in Dallas, rushing for a career-high 1,201 yards, 4.8 yards per carry, and 11 touchdowns last season. He also hauled in 35 catches for 137 yards and two scores.
The Cowboys took care of one of their priorities ahead of next week's NFL Scouting Combine. Dallas placed Logan Wilson on waivers Friday after acquiring the veteran linebacker in a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals last year. The team is also expected to negotiate a new deal with star receiver George Pickens, who's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent.
The market for free‑agent running backs takes a hit with Williams remaining in Dallas. Kenneth Walker, Breece Hall, and Travis Etienne Jr. are among the notable halfbacks who could be available during free agency.
