Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is expected to have his disciplinary hearing with the NFL on Sept. 30, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Rice will likely be able to play the first four weeks of the season before any potential discipline is imposed, Schefter adds.

The 25-year-old is facing a suspension after he and another speeding driver caused a chain-reaction car crash that injured multiple people in Dallas in 2024. Prosecutors said Rice fled on foot after the crash and didn't check on the people in the other vehicles. He pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of deferred probation.

"I am profoundly sorry for the physical damages to person and property," Rice said in the statement released by his attorney after the conviction. "I fully apologize for the harm I caused to innocent drivers and their families."

Rice only suited up in four contests last season after suffering a torn LCL in late September. He's been fully participating in on-field activities at training camp and is expected to be ready for Kansas City's season opener.

The Chiefs selected Rice in the second round of the 2023 draft out of SMU. He had a solid rookie season, leading Kansas City's wide receivers in targets (102), receptions (79), receiving yards (938), and touchdowns (seven).
