Report: Steelers nearly acquired Jaguars' Kirk before season-ending injury
The Pittsburgh Steelers were very close to a deal for Jacksonville Jaguars wideout Christian Kirk and were likely to acquire the pass-catcher before he broke his collarbone, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
While the Steelers were unable reach an agreement for Kirk, whose injury is season-ending, they reportedly aren't giving up on their pursuit of a receiver ahead of Tuesday's NFL trade deadline.
Pittsburgh was linked to multiple star receivers in past months, including Davante Adams and Brandon Aiyuk. The franchise has inquired about the possibility of adding the Carolina Panthers' Adam Thielen and the New York Jets' Mike Williams, per Schefter.
Third-year star George Pickens has established himself as the Steelers' top option at receiver. He leads all Pittsburgh pass-catchers with 35 receptions for 548 yards. Calvin Austin and Van Jefferson are among the other options on the depth chart. Rookie Roman Wilson was recently placed on injured reserve.
The Steelers (6-2) will play the Washington Commanders in Week 10.
