Texans place Nico Collins on IR with hamstring injury
The Houston Texans will be without wide receiver Nico Collins for at least their next four games after placing him on injured reserve Wednesday, the team announced.
Collins - who leads the NFL with 567 receiving yards this season - sustained a hamstring injury while scoring a 67-yard touchdown during Sunday's win over the Buffalo Bills.
The 25-year-old was originally added to the Texans' injury report with a hamstring injury two weeks ago but didn't miss any time.
A third-round pick in 2021, Collins has established himself as one of the NFL's most explosive pass-catchers. The standout wideout posted a career year in 2023, finishing the campaign with an 80-1,297-8 stat line. He signed a three-year, $72.7-million extension in May.
Collins' average of 16.6 yards per reception ranks fifth in the NFL over the last two seasons.
Injuries have been an issue for Collins, who has yet to play a full season since entering the league. He missed two games last year after being inactive for 10 contests in 2021 and 2022 combined.
Despite losing their No. 1 weapon, the Texans still boast a strong group of pass-catchers that features wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell and tight end Dalton Schultz, among others.
