Report: Browns signing Toney to practice squad
The Cleveland Browns are signing wide receiver Kadarius Toney, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Toney will start on Cleveland's practice squad as he ramps up with the team, per Rapoport.
Toney also visited the Seattle Seahawks and had other visits lined up, but he elected to sign with the Browns, Rapoport adds.
The Kansas City Chiefs released Toney near the end of August after reportedly failing to find a trade partner for the receiver.
Toney has flashed elite athleticism since being selected 20th overall in the 2020 draft, but injuries and inconsistent play have plagued the Florida product's NFL career. He's tallied 879 scrimmage yards and four scrimmage touchdowns on 103 touches.
The 25-year-old can also contribute as a returner. He's averaging seven yards per punt return on 17 career opportunities and owns the record for longest Super Bowl punt return after peeling off a 65-yard return for the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.
Toney joins a receiver room that features five-time Pro Bowler Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, and Elijah Moore, among others.
