The Trojans have vacated one win, while the Fighting Irish have vacated two. Notre Dame won the 2024 meeting 49-35.</p>

He has two years remaining on the four-year, $84-million extension he signed in 2022.</p><p>The two-time Pro Bowler appeared in just seven games during the 2024 season and finished the year on injured reserve due to a PCL injury that required surgery. The 5-foot-10, 196-pounder tallied seven pass deflections and a pair of interceptions, including a pick-6, in his limited action.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Green Bay didn't address the cornerback position with a premium pick in the 2025 draft despite Alexander's potential departure from the secondary. The only defensive back the Packers added was former Tulane corner <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/210247" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/210247">Micah Robinson</a>, who was selected in the seventh round.</p><p>Quarterback Jordan Love <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3271130" href="https://thescore.com/news/3271130">endorsed</a> Alexander's return shortly after he was placed on the block. <p>The Washington Commanders agreed to a deal with the District of Columbia to build a new stadium at the site of RFK Stadium, the club and Mayor Muriel E. Bowser announced Monday.</p><p>"We are thrilled to welcome the Commanders back home to the sports capital," Bowser said in a <a href="https://www.commanders.com/news/mayor-bowser-and-washington-commanders-announce-historic-deal-to-bring-the-team-home">statement</a> Monday. "We said that we could do it all - Commanders, housing, park space, recreation, retail, entertainment, and more - and, together, that's what we are delivering."</p><p>The new stadium will have a capacity of roughly 65,000 seats. It will also have a roof, unlike the Commanders' current stadium, so it can have events all year long. Bowser is optimistic a new stadium would help attract major sporting events such as the Super Bowl, Final Four, and major concerts.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Primary owner Josh Harris previously mentioned his desire to open a new stadium by 2030, which is now the expected opening year for the new building. The Commanders' contract to play at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, runs through 2027. The club has the flexibility to extend the deal until the completion of a new stadium since it owns both the stadium and land.</p><p>The Commanders will invest $2.7 billion into the project. Government funding, bonds, and other investors are expected to contribute more than $1 billion combined for the stadium, parking, and the surrounding area.</p><p>The Commanders considered the potential of remaining in Landover and building a new venue at the site of their current stadium. Virginia was also considered but wasn't considered a viable option as the decision-making process developed. The team has practiced in Ashburn, Virginia, dating back to 1992.</p><p>Washington's NFL franchise played at RFK Stadium from 1961-96, winning three Super Bowls.</p><p>The Commanders are coming off one of the most successful seasons in nearly three decades. They finished 2024 with a 12-5 record, making it to the NFC Championship Game behind rising quarterback <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/199756" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/199756">Jayden Daniels</a> and head coach Dan Quinn.</p>

<p>Dustin Poirier's final UFC fight will be a trilogy bout against Max Holloway for the BMF title at UFC 318 on July 19 in New Orleans, Poirier announced Friday on "<a href="https://x.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1915833287324344759">The Pat McAfee Show</a>."</p><p>Poirier's most recent fight ended in a submission loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 302 in June 2024. "The Diamond" was challenging for the lightweight belt.</p><p>The 36-year-old brings a 30-9 record into the fight with Holloway and won the first two bouts of the trilogy.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Holloway, 33, is also coming off a title-fight defeat after losing by KO to Ilia Topuria at UFC 308 on in October. The 5-foot-11 featherweight had won his previous three contests as well. He's compiled a 26-8 record.</p><p>Poirier won the pair's first matchup via submission in the first round at UFC 143 on the preliminary card, then won the second matchup via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 236. Poirier is the only fighter to have submitted Holloway.</p>

<p>NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is considering shortening the length of time that teams have to make picks in the first round of the draft.</p><p>"I started thinking last night, 'We gotta shorten it,'" Goodell said Friday on "<a href="https://x.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1915820931282354519">The Pat McAfee Show</a>."</p><p>Goodell mentioned the idea of providing teams seven minutes per pick in the first round, with the ability to use a two-minute extension once, as an example of a potential change to shorten the event.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Teams are currently granted 10 minutes per selection in the first round of the draft. However, most teams don't use the majority of their time.</p><p>"I think we usually average ... like six-and-a-half (minutes per pick)," Goodell <a href="https://x.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1915821384770478171">added</a>. "I think only one team went the full 10 (minutes), I think I heard last night. And you know, if you're in the middle of a trade you might want to use your card, play two minutes extra. But it's trying to come up with a bit more strategy."</p><p>A change to the amount of time that teams are granted would take effect for the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh or a future event.</p>

<p>The Detroit Lions exercised the fifth-year options for edge rusher <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/174006" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/174006">Aidan Hutchinson</a> and wide receiver <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/174005" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/174005">Jameson Williams</a>, the team announced Friday.</p><p>Hutchinson and Williams were selected No. 2 and No. 12 overall, respectively, in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The pair are now under contract through 2026. Hutchinson's option is expected to be worth approximately $20.8 million, while Williams' option is expected to be valued at $15.4 million, according to <a href="https://overthecap.com/fifth-year-option-projections">Over the Cap</a>.</p><p>Hutchinson had an elite start to his 2024 campaign, tallying 7.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, and 17 quarterback hits in just five games. The 24-year-old missed the remainder of the season due to a broken leg.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The Michigan product has racked up 122 total tackles, 28.5 sacks, 30 tackles for loss, and 65 quarterback hits in 39 career games.</p><p>Williams' career got off to an inconsistent start with just 29 touches for 464 yards and four touchdowns across his first two seasons. He appeared in only 18 combined games in 2022 and 2023 due to injury and suspension.</p><p>The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder enjoyed a breakout 2024 campaign, posting the first 1,000-yard season of his career. The speedster finished the year with 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns on 58 receptions in 15 games.</p>
