New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson will not play in Wednesday's season-opening tilt against the Seattle Seahawks due to an ankle injury.
Henderson traveled to Seattle for the Super Bowl rematch but did not participate in any of the team's three practices this week. He hasn't participated in practice since Aug. 24.
The 23-year-old ran for 911 yards as a rookie last season and contributed nine touchdowns to help the Patriots top the AFC East. He finished third in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.
New England also ruled out center Ben Brown for Week 1 with a knee injury.
