New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is expected to play in Saturday's preseason contest against the Houston Texans, marking his first game action since tearing his ACL last season, head coach Brian Daboll said Sunday, according to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post.

Jones didn't play in New York's preseason opener against the Detroit Lions last Thursday. The 27-year-old was fully cleared for contact heading into training camp and has been the team's primary signal-caller in practices.

Backup quarterback Drew Lock suffered a hip injury in Thursday's contest and will be sidelined for at least three practices, Daboll said. That leaves Tommy DeVito as the only other signal-caller on the team's depth chart.

Jones signed a four-year, $160-million contract with the Giants in 2023 after recording 3,913 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2022. However, he struggled before suffering his knee injury last year, throwing for 909 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions in six games.
