Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown left Saturday's preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a shoulder injury.

Brown got hurt after hauling in an 11-yard catch on the Chiefs' first offensive possession and quickly ran to the sideline to be examined by team doctors.

Although Kansas City listed the 27-year-old as questionable to return, Brown didn't get back into game action.

Head coach Andy Reid told reporters postgame that Brown sustained a sternoclavicular joint dislocation, which is similar to the injury that kept former Chiefs star Tyreek Hill off the field for four games during the 2019 season, according to Chiefs on SI's Jordan Foote. Reid said that Brown could miss some time as a result.

Brown was taken to the hospital for further evaluations, per The Kansas City Star's Sam McDowell. He was discharged Sunday morning and cleared to return to Kansas City, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Chiefs signed the veteran wideout to a one-year, $7-million contract in March. He spent the past two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, where he tallied 51 catches for 574 yards and four touchdowns in 2023.

The reigning Super Bowl champions acquired both Brown and rookie Xavier Worthy this offseason hoping to provide star quarterback Patrick Mahomes with more offensive weapons. Mecole Hardman, Skyy Moore, and Justyn Ross could be in line to see more snaps with Brown sidelined, especially since wideout Rashee Rice could miss time for violating the league's code of conduct following multiple off-field incidents this summer.
