Steelers' Conner ruled out vs. Rams
Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner will not play Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams due to a shoulder injury, the team announced Friday.
Conner suffered the injury during the team's win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 8. He was unable to play against the Indianapolis Colts last week.
Head coach Mike Tomlin was "optimistic" Tuesday about Conner's chances to suit up. The running back was limited in practice Wednesday but was a non-participant Thursday and Friday.
Jaylen Samuels will start again this week after finishing with 83 scrimmage yards and a fumble on 21 touches against the Colts. Third-year tailback Trey Edmunds was limited early in the week with a rib issue but was able to practice fully Friday.
Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was a surprise addition to the team's injury report Friday after logging a limited practice. He's considered questionable with a foot injury.
Fellow running back Benny Snell (knee) and fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee) will also miss Sunday's affair.
