Cal agreed to terms with Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi on a five-year contract to make him its head coach, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.
Lupoi played college football with Cal from 2000-05 and served as the program's defensive line coach from 2008-11.
The Golden Bears have been in the market for a new head coach since firing Justin Wilcox on Nov. 23.
Lupoi compiled an impressive resume since taking the Oregon defensive coordinator job in 2022. His defense has allowed only 14.8 points per game this season, good for eighth in the nation.
Cal went 7-5 this year, though the program hasn't won more than seven games since 2019.
