Arkansas is hiring Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield to be its next head coach, according to On3's Brett McMurphy.

Silverfield has been Memphis' head coach since 2019, when he was promoted after Mike Norvell left to Florida State.

The 45-year-old posted a 50-24 record in six seasons with the Tigers. He led Memphis to four bowl wins, the most for any coach in program history.

After a 7-6 record in 2022, the Tigers have gone 29-9 over the last three seasons. They've consistently been one of the best Group of 5 teams during that stretch.

Silverfield was hired to the Tigers' staff in 2016 and served various other roles, including offensive line coach and run-game coordinator. He also has NFL experience, having worked as an assistant defensive line coach with the Minnesota Vikings and an assistant offensive line coach with the Detroit Lions.

Silverfield will join Arkansas a few months after the Razorbacks fired Sam Pittman. Offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino was named interim coach and has gone 0-7.

Arkansas hasn't recorded a double-digit winning season since its 11-2 record in 2011.
