LeBron ready to chase 5th title: I didn't leave my family to lose in 2nd round

LeBron James is already establishing a championship mindset within the Philadelphia 76ers before even taking the court with his new team.

"In order for us to be great, we have to do things that are just not comfortable. We have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable," James told reporters Monday at 76ers media day. "That is the best way to expedite being great. You have to fall in love with doing things that's uncomfortable.

"If we can do that, then we can be a great team. If we don't do that, then we'll be like, 'Oh man, it was a great team on paper. We had a lot of great talent, and we lost in the second round.' I don't wanna do that. I didn't leave my family to lose in the second round, I know that for sure."

James joined the 76ers over the summer on a two-year, $8-million deal following eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The four-time Finals MVP recently cited his friendship with Tyrese Maxey and desire to help Joel Embiid win his first title as among the reasons he chose Philadelphia over several suitors.

James spent part of the offseason training with Maxey and fellow new 76ers acquisition Jaylen Brown.

Philadelphia is reportedly planning to deploy James at point guard. The 22-time All-Star last played the position in 2019-20, averaging a league-leading 10.2 assists en route to the Lakers' most recent NBA title.

Although James didn't confirm whether he'll be running the point, he said he's comfortable filling whatever role is asked of him.

"The luxury of my game is that I can do everything. Literally, I can do everything," James said.

Philadelphia begins its preseason schedule on Oct. 5 against the New York Knicks.
