Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren isn't attending the club's season-opening media day or the start of training camp as the two sides remain in a stalemate on a new contract, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.
Duren reportedly turned down a fully guaranteed five-year, $200-million contract offer from the Pistons.
If Duren and the Pistons don't agree on a new deal, he has until Thursday to accept his one-year, $9.6-million qualifying offer as a restricted free agent.
The All-NBA big man broke out last season, averaging 19.5 points, 10.5 boards, and two assists across 70 appearances. However, Duren struggled in the playoffs, producing 10.2 points and 8.5 boards per game as Detroit fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 7 of the second round.
The Pistons are scheduled for their first of four exhibition games on Oct. 5, then begin their regular season on Oct. 20 against the Boston Celtics.
