Golden State Warriors center Al Horford plans to remain with the team next season, he told ESPN's Shams Charania and Anthony Slater on Thursday.

Horford is reportedly declining his player option and intends to sign a new two-year, $14-million deal to return to Golden State, Charania and Slater report.

Horford will become the 13th player in NBA history to reach 20 seasons.

The 40-year-old joined the Warriors ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, going on to average 8.3 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 42.6% from the field. He played only 45 games, his fewest since the 2020-21 season, when he suited up for just 28 contests.

Golden State's season was riddled by injuries, as the team finished with a 37-45 record and a loss in the play-in tournament. Horford added that he feels like the team "can continue to take steps forward and have a better season" the next time around.
