The Sacramento Kings and Charlotte Hornets recently discussed a potential trade centered around three-time All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis, sources told The Athletic's Sam Amick.

While a deal is unlikely before the NBA draft, the Hornets have some interest in acquiring Sabonis, adds Amick.

Sacramento is reportedly looking to acquire one of Charlotte's first-round picks in this year's draft, but the Hornets would prefer to retain both selections and push trade talks to later in the summer.

Sabonis averaged 15.8 points, 11.4 boards, and 4.1 assists across a career-low 19 appearances in 2025-26. He underwent season-ending surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee last February.

Sabonis has two seasons remaining on a four-year, $186-million contract.

Moussa Diabate and Ryan Kalkbrenner split starting center duties for Charlotte last season.
