After 17 years in the Association, Lou Williams has called it a career.
The veteran guard officially announced his retirement Sunday on social media.
The Philadelphia 76ers drafted Williams 45th overall in 2005. After playing sparingly in his first two campaigns, he developed into one of the NBA's most dynamic bench scorers.
Williams shares the league's all-time record for Sixth Man of the Year awards with Jamal Crawford. He won his first Sixth Man in 2014-15 during his lone season with the Toronto Raptors and later added two more to his resume during his four-year tenure with the Los Angeles Clippers.
In March 2019, Williams surpassed Dell Curry for the most bench points in NBA history. Three years later, he broke Curry's league mark for reserve appearances.
Williams' best campaign came in 2017-18 when he averaged a career-best 22.6 points, 5.3 assists, and 1.1 steals. The 36-year-old last played in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2021-22 season.
Williams also suited up for the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers over nearly two decades in the Association.
