Anthony Pettis is set to face Alex Morono at UFC Fight Night on Dec. 19 in Las Vegas, reports Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

The welterweight fighters have yet to sign the contracts, Okamoto adds.

"I'm not obsessing about getting back to a belt, or getting that next spot," Pettis said. "This is my first chance to get back-to-back wins in a while. Let's start back over, take this one step at a time. I feel amazing at 170 pounds. This opportunity opened up and I couldn't say no to it."

Pettis (23-10) has already fought twice in 2020, losing to Carlos Diego Ferreira by submission in January and earning a unanimous decision win against Donald Cerrone in May. The former UFC lightweight champion will try to win back-to-back fights for the first time since 2013-14.

"I was actually trying to get a fight for a while now," Pettis said. "My mindset has been so sharp. I've gone back to being a student of the game and I feel myself moving over this plateau. I feel like I was plateaued for a while and it was just never-ending, but last month I went to Colombia and got a stem-cell injection and I've been working with a sports psychiatrist."

Morono (18-6) has also posted a 1-1 record this year. He's coming off a unanimous decision win versus Rhys McKee in November.

The welterweight matchup between Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev was expected to headline UFC Fight Night on Dec. 19, but the bout was called off after Edwards reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

The Stephen Thompson-Geoff Neal fight is now expected to be the main event as a result.
