Yamamoto leads Dodgers to Game 3 win, cusp of 3rd straight NLCS

The Los Angeles Dodgers have the Atlanta Braves on the ropes after Tuesday's 3-1 win in Game 3 of the NLDS at Truist Park.

The two-time defending champions are now one win away from a third consecutive NLCS appearance.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto stymied the Braves, allowing one run on four hits with one walk and a playoff career-high 10 strikeouts over seven innings.

The 2025 World Series MVP owns a sparkling 2.14 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 58 strikeouts over 63 postseason innings dating back to 2024.

"I was feeling really good," Yamamoto said postgame.

Freddie Freeman and Kiké Hernández homered to provide the offense.

Freeman's blast with the 18th of his career in the playoffs, while Hernández has 17 postseason round-trippers.

Edwin Díaz pitched the ninth to record his first save since mid-August.

Braves ace Chris Sale allowed three runs across five innings, striking out seven but did allow both homers.

"He had to work had to get the outs that he got," Braves manager Walt Weiss said of Sale. "He looked like Chris Sale to me, but they did a nice job."

The Dodgers will send Tyler Glasnow to the mound for Wednesday's Game 4. The Braves are countering with Tyler Mahle.
