Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Roki Sasaki is headed for the 15-day injured list after exiting Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Braves early due to a blister on his middle finger.
"It was a pretty good blister," Roberts said postgame, according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez. "It just came out of nowhere."
Sasaki said part of the skin on his middle finger came off prior to taking the mound in the fourth inning. The sophomore righty wound up allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three over 3 1/3 innings, throwing 66 total pitches in the outing.
The 24-year-old owns a 4.60 ERA and 4.85 FIP over 119 1/3 innings this season, making 23 starts.
Left-hander Eric Lauer, who worked two innings in relief Wednesday, is expected to take Sasaki's spot in the rotation. Lauer surrendered one run on two hits and two walks in the 6-5 loss to the Braves.
